How many years since I saw the picture in my mind of Cynthia pouring juice into a glass? I think it's about eight years...it took courage to apply for an MA in Creative Writing but Sophie Nicholls encouraged me with her words. I loved the MA, the research into autism in 1950s USA, the freedom to write swathes... Those swathes need editing and researching. I haven't made it easy on myself; historical fiction, dual timeline, an autistic child's voice.

I'm so delighted Natasha Woodcraft and Rachel Yarworth are helping me with the planner-type activities as I am a total pantser.

Freeing Nancy will be born this year... It's a must-read for anyone interested in what really happened to children with autism in 1950s USA. Children

who made mistakes, or didn't fit the 'norm.'

In 1968 a young reporter Bill Baldini for Channel 10 opened the eyes of the world to the conditions at Pennhurst State school and Hospital...My protaganist Nancy would have been sent to a place like this..
